The verdict

XrmToolBox is a free Swiss Army knife, deservedly loved by the community. If you’re a technical admin who knows its plugins, it handles a huge number of bulk operations. The real cost isn’t the license: it’s the learning curve, the reliance on a Windows desktop app, and the fact that the operation’s safety depends entirely on you, with no guided pre-validation or visual duplicate review, and with mass updates that can overwrite existing data.

ImportToD365 packages that workflow so any consultant or admin can use it confidently from the browser: you see errors before writing, fix inline, approve duplicates against your live CRM, and what already exists in your CRM is never modified. They’re different tools for different profiles, and they can coexist.
